One in eight of the worlds bird species are now threatened, with more than 200 species at high risk of extinction in the short term. Zoos and Wildlife parks such as On the Perch Bird Park are playing a key role in protecting our wildlife for the future.

On the Perch Bird Park have bred a number of endangered species including the Bush Stone Curlew (right) which is threatened by habitat loss and degradation and predation by cats, foxes and dogs. Its is listed as endangered in all mainland Australian states and territories except Queensland and Northern Territory.
